PLACES TO VISIT IN AND AROUND TORQUAY

Paignton Zoo

This is a beautiful zoo; it is very big with a huge range of animals from all over the world. It is a great day out for adults and children in the summer and the winter.

All the animals are kept in lovely enclosures and walking around you can almost forget that you are in a zoo. It is set up in the world’s continents and is a mixture of animals and plants from each part of the world.

It is set over 75 acres of natural habitat. It is a bit of a hike up to the elephants and giraffes but it is highly recommended.

You can easily get to the zoo from the Moonraker hotel by car, as there is plenty of parking, or bus, which are frequently available. The zoo is open all day from 10am until 6pm.

LIVING COAST

The living coast is another great place to visit although it will not take all day to walk around it is well worth going to have a look. The living coast is situated on the harbour, which is about a 10-minute walk from the Moonraker hotel.

It is home to sea life from around the world with a range of penguins, birds and seals, which you can see from above the water and below. You will also get a discount when visiting the living coast if you have already been to the zoo.

 COCKINGTON

Cockington is a small village with a stately manor hose –Cockington court. It is deep in a hidden valley right in the heart of Torbay. Cockington is surrounded by tranquil countryside and its beauty hasn’t changed for generations. With in the village is a country park, which is 450 acres of parkland where you can stroll around and enjoy a variety of scenery and wildlife.

You will really need to catch a bus or drive to Cockington, a bus may be a better idea in the summer months as parking can be a bit of a nightmare.

BABBACOMBE MODEL VILLAGE

Babbacombe model village is a must see for all the family, you need to take a leisurely walk around the model village and be amazed by how life like everything is.

The village is open all year round with illuminated late night opening where it is open until 10pm during may and July and some ½ term weeks.
